James · v2.0
The task manager of the future
James AI
AI-powered to-do app
JAMES is the world's first to-do app with artificial intelligence that automatically creates the optimal daily plan. Far too many people still waste too much time at work and are therefore less productive. They don't know where to start with their daily tasks, spend a long time thinking about what to do next, or are frustrated by the sheer number of tasks.

Market research
Market research
In the initial market research, we examined 21 applications built around an idea similar to James, namely a clear way to manage daily tasks. Most of them are web-based.
In the market research, we looked for the most important features and for which applications were especially attractive, namely those with a clear overview, simple operation, clear feedback and high overall quality.

From the sample collected from four survey respondents, James's product owner, who looks after over 1,500 users, and the detailed feedback from nine people on Appsumo, we arrived at the following insights:
- The user base is predominantly male with a technical background
- The age range spans from 18 to over 65
- Places of residence are small and large cities
- Predominantly from Germany
- Predominantly middle class, partly up to upper class
- Predominantly entrepreneurs
- Rather conservative taste (classical music, moderate pop)
Architecture
After gathering requirements, we started building the entire structure of the product as a mind map. For us, UX architecture is always a central part of product documentation: it speeds up alignment between product teams, helps everyone understand the big picture from above and makes it easier to onboard new team members. We also maintain this mind map throughout the entire process and keep it up to date after new features are implemented.

Design system
Design systems have become a popular tool for greater product consistency and scalability. A design system is a visual language and a library of atomic components with clear standards that define how the components should be used. With design systems, the product development team reduces repetitive work and increases productivity.

Style research
The focus group wanted more customizability. We delivered by adding several color themes and the ability to change the icons in the app.
