Overview

In Hungary, a large share of employees don't prepare their own food. They buy at their local canteen or go to their regular restaurant to buy a set menu. A large share orders online. Hungarians are price-conscious: if they can save money on food, they do. Whether it's healthy or not doesn't matter much, although a trend toward a healthy lifestyle is visible. Hungarians are becoming not only more cost-conscious but also more health-conscious.

There is a gap in the market: people don't have time to stand in queues or sit in a restaurant waiting for service. To save time and money, they also buy online (±20% according to our own research).

On the other hand, restaurants have peak times and hours when hardly anything is going on. PickNGo steps in during exactly those quiet hours and supplies people with an affordably priced dish. By combining both sides, we create a solution where both parties help each other without losing time or incurring additional service costs.

With the PickNGo app, we redesigned the service of the physical reception desk and combined digital with physical space. It's about the ongoing trend of replacing physical processes with devices that people have replaced with smartphone applications.

Our client's basic idea was to create an app that helps people find takeout food quickly, easily and at high quality.

The design can reflect the current location and the position of the restaurants. Each featured restaurant offers a type of dish that changes with each weekday. You can also choose between vegan and vegetarian dishes and everything else. One payment option (credit and debit cards). The focus is on ease of use.

Despite the minimalist user interface, there are intuitive micro-interactions that let users reach their goals quickly.
