The starting point

The flow first. Then the tool.

Before you put a chat on your website, it pays to plan: how does the conversation open, what do you need to know, and when do you offer a meeting? Pick the steps below that fit your offer. The planner puts them in order so you can copy the result and discuss it with your team. Nothing is sent or stored.

Context → question → next step

From reading to doing

Your flow. Step by step.

One question, up close

What makes
a good flow.

A good flow does not ask everything at once. It clears up the need first, then the context, and only then offers a next step.

What are you working on that I could help with?

An open start instead of 'How can I help?'. It invites a concrete need.

A

One goalYou know how the conversation should end: a meeting, an answer or a handover to the team.

B

Short stepsEach message asks one question, not three.

C

A way outAnyone who gets stuck can reach a person.

The playbook

How to plan a conversation flow.

One learning path. Three perspectives.
From knowing to the next step

A conversation
with direction.

Need → context → meeting

  1. 01

The goal first. Then the questions.

Write down how a good conversation ends. Every question in the flow has to serve that goal. Whatever does not help goes.

    Example

    A chat that 'helps somehow'

    Goal: one confirmed first call
  2. 02

    The need comes first.

Contact fields at the start feel like a form. Ask first about what is on the person's mind. Contact details come when there is a reason for them.

    Sharpen the order

Name, email, company, then the question

The need first, contact details at booking
  3. 03

    Play it through once.

Run the flow with a colleague acting as a visitor. Where they hesitate, a question is unclear or unnecessary.

    Check before using it

Can someone without context get through?

Play the flow through out loud once
