UTM tracking for marketing in small businesses

Every campaign link properly tagged, every source unambiguous.

Enter destination address, source, and campaign and generate a link according to your standard. Templates keep the names consistent, and an overview shows which campaign uses which links.

After you log in, UTM opens directly. Destination address, source, and campaign name are the first step.

Meets the link standard

Simplified sample view with made-up data.

Why change anything

The newsletter says “Newsletter,” the ad says “newsletter,” and your reporting counts two sources.

  • Everyone on the team writes source and campaign a little differently.
  • Later, nobody knows which link is in which post.
  • A typo in the link only gets noticed when the campaign is already running.

Until now

  1. Attach parameters to the address by hand
  2. Copy names from an old link
  3. Collect links in a spreadsheet that is rarely up to date
  4. Piece sources together in the reporting

With UTM

  1. Generate a link from a template
  2. Source, medium, and campaign follow the standard
  3. Every link sits with its campaign
  4. An overview shows which links deviate from the standard

How it works

To your result in 4 steps.

  1. 01

    Name the campaign

Set what the campaign is called, for example your spring promotion.

  2. 02

    Tag link

Enter the destination address and the source. The link gets source, medium, and campaign according to your standard.

  3. 03

    Use in the channel

Put the finished link in a newsletter, ad, or post.

  4. 04

    Attribute visitors

In your reporting, visitors appear under consistent names and can be attributed to the campaign.

What gets better

Three things UTM does for you.

Consistent names

The same source has the same name everywhere, no matter who built the link.

Link templates define how source, medium, and campaign are written.

Every link easy to find

You know which links belong to which campaign, even weeks later.

An overview shows which campaigns are running with which links.

Deviations stand out

You notice when a link doesn't follow the standard or doesn't work, before it dilutes your reporting.

A view checks the links against the link standard, and a list shows all links and whether they work.

In everyday life

Here's how others see it.

Marketing in a small team

Trigger
A promotion is advertised via newsletter, ad, and social media at the same time.
With UTM
For each channel, you generate a link from the same template and assign them all to the same campaign.
Result
In your reporting, the promotion appears under one name, broken down by source.

Freelance consultant

Trigger
She sends a newsletter every month with links to her website.
With UTM
She tags every link with source, medium, and campaign.
Result
She can attribute visitors to each newsletter.

Agency

Trigger
Several people build links for the same customer campaign.
With UTM
All links are created from the same link template and checked against the standard.
Result
All links in the campaign follow the same names.

Before you start.

What are UTM parameters?

Additions to a link that specify source, medium, and campaign. They let you attribute visitors in your reporting to the campaign they came through.

Does the app show me how many visitors came through a link?

UTM tags your links consistently and so lays the foundation for your reporting. You see the visitor numbers in your analytics tool.

Can I create templates for recurring links?

Yes. Link templates define how your links are built so the names stay consistent.

How do I notice that a link is tagged wrongly?

A dedicated view checks whether your links follow the link standard. You'll see which rules you can set in the app.

Can I see which links belong to a campaign?

Yes. An overview shows which campaigns are running with which links.

What happens when I click “Create first UTM link”?

You’ll go to the Peak One login. The “UTM” selection and the destination page are passed along in the link. After you log in, you open this app directly. One account works for all Peak One apps.

What does UTM cost?

Features and usage limits depend on your plan. You'll find the overview on the Pricing page. Clicking “Create first UTM link” does not start a paid subscription.

Give your next campaign links that fit together in your reporting.
